In humble submission to the will of God, we respectfully announce the earthly transition of our beloved, Sterling Jonas Jackson, Jr., on Thursday, June 23, 2022 in the Washington Nursing & Rehab. Center of Chipley, Florida. He was 82 years old and a native of Caryville, Florida (Washington County, FL).
Sterling was blessed with the breath of life on March 12, 1940 to the parentage of Mr. Sterling J. Jackson, Sr., and Mrs. Mary Louise (Harris) Jackson in Caryville, Florida.
Being reared in a Christian home, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and became a life-long member of the St. Mary A.M.E. Church of Caryville, Florida. Sterling was educated in the public school system of Washington County, Florida.
After his completion of high school, Sterling moved to Detroit, Michigan where he lived for numerous years. While there he became a licensed welder and began doing work in the construction, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical field. He also working in the pulpwood industry for a brief period of time. Sterling was a member of the Independent Pallbearers.
Never meeting a stranger, Sterling possessed a sweet spirit that would illuminate wherever he went. He loved to uplift anybody he conversed with by either talking about his Lord & Savior or with his beautiful baritone voice through song. A great man who touched countless lives that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories a beloved spouse and caregiver: Mrs. Jimmie L. Cooper; children: Johnny Simmons, Jasper, Armond, Zannie, & Rayne; a host of beloved grandchildren; siblings: Priscilla (Derry) Robinson, Edna Pearl Jackson, Whit Adam Jackson, Willie Earl Jackson, and James Robert Jackson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
