In humble submission to the will of God we respectfully announce the earthly transition of Mrs. Sonia Renee (Pierce) Peterson on September 13, 2021 in Dothan, AL. She was 57 years old and a native of Caryville, Florida.
Sonia was blessed with the breath of life on April 8, 1964 to the parentage of Willie J. & Mary (Pierce) Broxton in Caryville, Florida. Being reared in a Christian home, Sonia accepted Christ as her personal savior and was raised in the St. Mary A.M.E. Church of Caryville, Florida. She later in life would join the Lifeline Kingdom of God Ministries, where she attended and served faithfully as the church secretary.
Sonia was educated in the public school system of Washington County, Florida and graduated from the Vernon High School, Class of 1982. She later attended the Washington-Holmes Vocational School and obtained a beautician license. After completing that, Sonia enrolled at Troy University Dothan Campus and received a certification in Pharmacy Tech and worked in the field for many years. She also loved to sew. Sonia was a meek and humble person who was always helping others. She did not discriminate against anybody and would give her last, even if she needed it herself. Sonia was in the lives of countless children always taking them in and keeping them even if that meant for an extended stay.
One of the happiest moments of her life was when she met and married Wilford Peterson. She loved her husband and cherished every moment that God blessed them to have. Wilford preceded Sonia in death on October 13, 2020.
Sonia was preceded in death by her husband and a sister: Carla Pierce.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved parents: Willie J. & Mary Broxton of Caryville, Florida; brother: Dayan Broxton of Tallahassee, Florida; aunt: Annie P. Broughton of Grand Bay, Alabama; god-daughter: Kayla Everett; special friend: Pastor Frederick Hightower; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
