Mary Kate Wilson, aged 83, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma enjoyed a fruitful and blessed life that transitioned into Heaven on June 5, 2020. Mary Kate was born in Panama City, Florida on May 1, 1937, to Monroe Roosevelt and Anna Mae Sheffield, who both preceded her in death. Mary Kate has two siblings. She is survived by her brother, James Sheffield. James' children are Sonjia Sheffield, Angela Sheffield, and Marcus Sheffield. Sonjia has two children: Sidney and Michael. Marcus has one child: Makayla. Her sister, Dr. Nona Sheffield Johnson, and her late husband, Leroy Johnson, both preceded her in death.
Her late husband, US Air Force 1st Lieutenant Roland Wilson, stole her heart when they met at Tuskegee University. She would tell stories about how he and his frat brothers would serenade her under her college dorm window. She loved her Roland and would talk lovingly about him long after his death.
Mary Kate’s greatest love were her surviving three children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her first born is Yolander Wilson whose children are Nona Wilson Lowry, Nicolete Wilson, and Natasha Wilson. Nona, with her husband Gregory Lowry Sr., have three children: Leslie Johnson, Gregory Jr. and Nia Monroe. Natasha has two children: Julyus and Maliyah Wilson. Her second born is Anna Wilson Lemoins who with her husband Michael Lemoins have two children: Kristoffer Lemoins and Paul Lemoins. Kristoffer, with his wife Ophir Lemoins has one child, Evan Lemoins. Mary Kate’s third born is Candace Santana with her husband Marcos Santana.
Mary Kate had many talents: among them were her love of sewing, art, crocheting, and knitting. She created dolls, doll houses and sewed many costumes for school plays. Her talents led her to become a dedicated and skilled worker. She built circuits for Litton and started her long-term career as a retail associate at Lerner’s in Panama City, Florida during the early days of Panama City Mall. Her career continued at Pearlridge Mall's Casual Corner in Pearl City, Hawaii and Burlington Coat Factory in Greenbelt, Maryland, where she worked for over 19 years. She loved serving and helping her customers look their best.
Most of all she loved studying God’s Word and sharing His message with family and friends. Mary Kate has been a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Panama City, Florida and Judah Christian Assembly in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mary Kate also loved to travel and visited Germany, the United Kingdom, and Hawaii during her lifetime.
We thank God for a wonderful beautiful mother and so many cherished moments that we have to comfort us. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She loved everyone that touched her life. We will always remember and love her forever...
