In humble submission to the will of God, we respectfully announce the earthly transition of Mr. James Phillip Peterson on September 18, 2021 in the North Okaloosa Medical Center of Crestview, Florida. He was 63 years old and a native of Vernon, Florida.
James Phillip Peterson, son of the late James B. Peterson and Aggie Mae Brown Peterson, was born on June 19, 1958 in Vernon, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Johnnie E. Peterson.
James was raised in a Christian home, where he chose Jesus as his personal Savior. He was a member of McQueen's Temple First Born Church of Vernon, Florida. James was educated in the public school system of Washington County, Florida. He received his CDL from the Washington-Holmes Technical Center in Chipley, Florida. James enjoyed driving semi-trucks, fishing, making others laugh, and spending time with his relatives and friends. After receiving his CDL's, he drove trucks for private companies for many years. In his later years he changed careers and was employed with the City of Crestview, Florida.
One of the happiest moments of his life was when he was united in Holy Matrimony to Carolyn Chambers on July 3, 1990.
James will be cherished by his generous heart and humorous spirit. His life memories will be cherished by his wife: Carolyn Peterson of Crestview, Florida; two daughters: Shannon (Kenji) Moore of Crestview, Florida and Gloria Raybon of Townsend, Tennessee; three granddaughters: Ja'Kaiyla Chambers, Martia Hurst, and Kaliyah Moore, all of Crestview, Florida; great-granddaughter: Auri'aun Flowers of Crestview, Florida; siblings: Thelma (Frank) Davis of Tampa, Florida, Deloris Siples, Ferman Peterson, Cynthia Peterson, all of Vernon, Florida and Angela Peterson of Tallahassee, Florida; sister-in-law: Cathryn Wooten of Crestview, Florida; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
