Obituary

In humble submission to the will of God, we respectfully announce the earthly transition of Deacon Charles Henry McDougald of Chipley, Florida.  He was 80 years old and a native of Washington County, Florida.

Deacon McDougald, affectionately known as "Doochie", was blessed with the breath of life on August 11, 1941 to the parentage of the late Deacon William McDougald, Sr., and the late Mother Versia Lee Johnson McDougald in Chipley, Florida.

Being raised in a God-fearing home, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and early in life joined the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Noel Blackshear.  He attended T.J. Roulhac High School and graduated in the Class of 1959 in the top 10.  He was a member of the basketball and football team.

After high school he joined the United States Army where he served his country and was honorably discharged.  Later in life he relocated to Long Island, New York to the home of his sister, Christine McDougald Anthony. He joined Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Richard M. Loving, where he served faithfully as president of the Nurses, the Trustee Board, Usher, and Choir Member.  Deacon McDougald was also a member of the Voices of Hope Fundraising Committee.  He later joined the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Malcolm O. Nelson, where he served faithfully.  Under the pastorage of Fellowship's new pastor, Dr. Mary L. McDougald Sharpe, he was ordained a Deacon.  He later relocated back to his hometown of Chipley, where he reunited with his home church, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Price Wilson, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, and a Deacon. Later he would take the position of Chairman of the Board of Deacon under Jerusalem's new pastor, Rev. Tony Davis.

Although he is gone, Deacon McDougald's legacy shall be forever continued by his faithful and loving siblings: Christine McDougald Anthony of Central Islip, New York, Jeronnie McDougald, Sr., Lady Katherleen McDougald (Rev.
