Obituary

Master Sergeant Alphonso E. Daniel, United States Air Force (Ret.), of Chipley, Florida, answered the call of the Savior on April 6, 2020.  He was a native of Roanoke, Virginia.

Alphonso was born to the late Richard & Flossie (Barksdale) Daniel in Roanoke, Virgina.  Alphonso was raised in a Christian home, therefore he accepted Christ as his personal Savior.  He was a member of Grant Tabernacle A.M.E. Church, Chipley, Florida.  He served as a Steward, an Usher, Bus Driver, Sons of Allen and on the Finance Committee.

Alphonso served honorably in the United States Air Force in the position of Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician/Quality Assurance.  He retired after 26 years.  Alphonso transitioned to civilian life with ease and continued his love for aircraft.  His expertise ensured immediate and gainful employment with Raytheon, a major U.S. Defense contractor, and DynCorp, a government service provider, for another 20 plus years.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife: Helen Roche Daniel of Chipley, Florida; devoted father to two daughters: Carolyn (Willie, Jr.) Hightower of Tallahassee, Florida and Shirley (Arthur) Goff of Chipley, Florida; two sons: Otis Lee of Vernon, Florida and Theodis Lee of Chipley, Florida; cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren;  dear brother to two sisters: Linda Daniel and Frances Claytor, both of Roanoke, Virgina; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
