On November 4, 1971, God granted Viola Works and Robert Peterson the privilege to birth and raise a loving, gentle spirit, and genuine soul, whose name would be John Lorenza Works, Sr.
Being raised in a Christian home, John accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was reared in the St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church of Caryville, Florida. Education was instilled in John at an early age, pushing him to graduate in the Vernon High School Class of 1989.
“J-Boy” ,as he was affectionately known, was the true definition of a hard working man. He had a knack for the outdoors, specializing in landscaping. He was employed with Johnson Lawn Care of Bonifay, Florida and more recently with Herbaflex of Panama City, Florida for the past 7+ years. Along with is hardworking mentality, he also had a deep love for his family and friends. John was always the life of the party, keeping everyone smiling and laughing. John loved the Florida Gators and enjoyed 4-Wheeler racing, fishing, and hunting. Although his presence is no longer. his memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of everyone that he encountered.
One of the happiest moment in his life was when he met and married Landly Marie Peterson on January 24, 2000. Together they reared 10 loving children, creating a lifetime of memories for each one of them to cherish forever.
John leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 18 years: Landly Marie Works; five (5) daughters: Talaci Works, Jakevia Works, Mercedes Peterson, Yasia Spencer and Justice Spencer; five (5) sons: Giovoinni Martin (Layla), John L. Works, Jr., Jonshae Works, Dillion Works, and Jacury Peterson; beloved mother: Viola Works; five(5) sisters: Paula Peterson, Lataski Peterson, Cynthia Lett (Zachary), Vionka Taylor, and Vitoya Hodge; eight (8) brothers: DeCarlos Peterson, Jermaine Marks, Thomas Broxton (Gwendolyn), Robert Peterson, Leslie Peterson (Lisa), Roy Peterson (Carrie), DeAngelo Peterson, and Chris Peterson; special uncle: Louis Johnson; along with a large host of aunts , uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his father: Robert Peterson, Sr., and his grandmother: Besse Johnson.
