David Elliot IngramOctober 22, 1946 ~ December 17, 2017 (age 71)
David Elliot Ingram, who was born in Flowersview, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He was the second eldest of five children. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jesse Ray and Mamie Ingram; brother, Jesse Ray Ingram Jr. and sister, Gale Ingram. David attended Mt. Zion for elementary and middle school in Flowersview. He graduated from Tivoli High School in 1963. He matriculated to Edward Waters College, where he excelled in track.
During the summer of 1968, David was drafted into the U.S. Army where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was a combat medic during the Vietnam War in the Mekong Delta and a decorated soldier who received many honors and recognitions, as follows:
• 4 Bronze Service Stars;
• Combat Medical Badge;s
• Vietnam Campaign medal with 60 device;
• 1 O/S Bar;
• Vietnamese Unit Citation;
• Service Medal;
• Marksman Badge;
• Sharpshooter Badge.
He later joined the National Guard. After completing his military service, David attended Lively Vocational School for culinary art and block masonry. In 1981, he graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a B.S. Degree in Psychology. David has worked as a high school teacher, mental health counselor as well as both a cable and insurance salesman. In his early adulthood, he spent time actively involved in the civil rights movement, associated with the Black Panther Party, and the study of Islam. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and had a 100% service connected disability.
David Elliot Ingram is survived by his wife of 35 years Carolyn Ingram; children: Jessica Clark, Tallahassee, Florida, and George Johnson, McDonough, Georgia; brother and sister: Kenneth (Gloria) Ingram, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and Emma Ingram, Tallahassee, Florida; mother-in-law: Annie Mae Johnson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Willie Johnson, Phyllis (Terry) Coleman, Michael (Rhonda) Johnson, Steve (Alvette) Johnson, Garry Johnson; grandchildren: Jaden Clark, Edward Clark IV, Johnayah Cornelius, and Gabrielle Johnson; nephews and nieces: Jamal, Tony, Kadeem, Kimberly, Mari, Keisha, Trinity, Torri, Chinette, Tavaris, Tiffany, Amber, Rebecca, Brian, Damon, Cecilia, Jeremy, Michael; and numerous great nephews and nieces.
